Permanent exhibitions:
Gods, soldiers, citizens
Budapest in the Roman Empire -on the basis of archeological
exavations. Jewels, metal, glass, bronze tools, wallpaintings, mosaics
are on view.
Outside in the court of the museum there are whole columns,
ruins.
Several Roman ruins were opened up in O'buda in the last two century.
The exavations began in 1778, when the ruins of a major bath of the Roman
legion camp were found by a fortunate accident. The following major ruins
were opened up during the further exavations:
- 1 - Civil Amphitheatre
- 2 - the ruins of Aquincum civil town
- 3 - the Hercules-villa
- 4 - Christian tomb-chapel
- 5 - Soldier's bath
- 6 - Field-town museum
- 7 - Field Amphitheatre
- 8 - Governor's Palace
- 9 - the place of legion camp
