The museum takes place inside the most significant historic building of the inner town. The building was built in 1698, and got its neoclassical form in 1832. The Museum witnessed intresting moments of the Hungarian history. Batthyány Lajos, the Hungarian prime minister was taken captive there in 1849. The Museum was opened in 1957.
