A shuttle service exists on the Danube, but it is more for pleasure than business, being slow and not particularly convenient. On the stretch of the river that runs through the centre of the capital there are five boarding points - tickets sold at the landing stages or on the boats. Excursion boats (sétahajó), very popular with children, run from the landing stage at Vigadó tér throughout the summer - trips last about 60 minutes. (Information on 1181-743.) From Vigadó tér also, day trips to the Danube Bend start during the season.
The HÉV Suburban Railway runs between Batthyány tér on the Buda side and Szentendre, stopping at Aquincum and the camping site/baths of Római fürdő (as well as elsewhere) en route. On the Pest side it runs from Őrs vezér tér to Gödöllő, from Vágóhíd to Dunaharaszti, and from Boráros tér to Csepel. Tickets may be purchased at the stations. The Cogwheel Railway runs between Városmajor (opposite Hotel Budapest) and the Széchenyi Hill. Tickets at the station. The Pioneer Railway runs between Hűvösvölgy (Cool Valley) and the Széch- enyi Hill. Tickets at the station. The Chairlift operates between the valley of Zugliget and the peak of János (Saint John's) Hill. The Funicular Railway, recently restored, runs up from the Buda end of the Chain Bridge to a spot on Castle Hill between the National Gallery (to your left) and the old town (to your right). Tickets at the kiosk. Long queues in summer. A Minibus now runs between the head of the funicular railway and Moszkva tér, stopping at various convenient points in the old town on Castle Hill.
