TEMPUS PANNONIA JEP

In the frame of the TEMPUS higher education development program of the European Community, the "PANNONIA" Joint European Project had been approved from September 1992 onwards for a three year period of time. This project was also destined to promote the development of the regional network of distance education in Hungary.
The Pannonia programme - besides a minor infrastructural investment for the regional distance education centres - included the training of 25 managers and 150 trainers of distance education, additionally the development of an adequate curriculum and teaching materials in order to enhance the establishment of the Hungarian distance education network. The Pannonia project had been implemented in the co-ordination of the Gödöllõ University of Agricultural Sciences and the 6 concerned Hungarian institutions of higher education in co-operation with Italian, British, German, Dutch, French, Portuguese and Finnish distance education institutions.


TEMPUS IDEAL JEP

The IDEAL - Integration of Distance Education at Advanced Level - TEMPUS JEP has been approved for the period of 1995-1998. The main objective of the project is to adapt and develop new distance education materials with the cooperation of the experts of institution involved in the project and utilising experiences and existing teaching materials of the EU partners. The programme is performed in the coordination of the Gödöllõ University of Agricultural Sciences with the collaboration of the following 9 Western European and 16 Hungarian partner institutions:

PHARE MULTI-COUNTRY COOPERATION IN DISTANCE EDUCATION

The main objective of the PHARE Multi-Country Cooperation in Distance Education project is to develop regional network of distance education in the 11 Eastern and Central European Countries. Within the framework of the Hungarian sub-project of this programme the following developments have been performed:

The contractual value is appr. ECU 180 000.

Within the frame of the regional component of the project 2 courses have been organised in the first year, i.e. European Studies and Training of Trainers. In the second year 40 distance education centres will be established in the 11 PHARE countries, 4 of which will be set up in Hungary.


PHARE NATIONAL PROGRAMME

The PHARE National Programme consists of 4 sub-programmes as follows:
1. Cooperation in higher education and economy
2. Diversification of higher education
3. Development of distance education
4. Secondary education for socially handicapped youngsters

Within the frame of PHARE National Programme 1.2 million ECU has been allocated to support open and flexible learning programmes serving the interests of Hungary.

Sub-programme 3 aims to promote development and adaptation of DE courses. The main goals of this sub-programme are as follows:
1. Development and adaptation of new DE programmes
2. Transformation of whole or part of traditional education programmes into open learning form
3. Substitution of existing open education methods by up-to-date forms
4. Accreditation and quality assurance of open and flexible learning courses.

The sub-programme is supervised by the experts of NCDE
