The idea of creating the Opera Schedule Server arose from the OPERA-L mailing list which collects many opera fans on the Net from all over the world.
Since I don't get much information on the programs of foreign opera companies from conventional sources (and I also don't have time for daily maintenance of the database), operating the server would be unimaginable without the assistance of lots of users who have local information to be shared with the public.
Because the database originates from different sources, no one can be responsible for its accuracy and quality, and of course, no one can ensure its completeness (which would be impossible, anyway).
The software used for this service is written by me, and this is its second version. It has not yet been tested sufficiently, so it surely contains bugs. Please don't be upset if you discover one or many; just send E-Mail to me, and I'll do my best to fix the problem (in my very limited spare time).
I would like to thank Rick Bogart (Stanford University) who turned my rough English text into these fine senteces.
The service was launched in April, 1994.
Enjoy!
